I hear you on the cost of upgrading the shocks. when I first got the mt410 I was planning on buying a set of ET48.3 shocks from dollarhobbyz because it was cheaper than upgrading just the few parts on the existing MT410 shocks. ridiculous how quickly it adds up. i still did the caps and cartridge upgrades anyway because it was a smaller hit over time on the wallet. still have the plastic collars though.
Why not go with the ET48.3 shocks and just swap them in? now you've got a set of short EB bodies leftover... well i'm sure you'll find a use! ha!

So I noticed the pinion bearing pushing out on the rear diff when I did the shocks. Figured the out drive loosened. Reset it and figured all is good. Brought the truck out to a poker run yesterday figuring the MT410 would attract some attention for the booth we set up for the local track. 1st trigger pull I hear the ring and pinion skip.....bearing is pushed out again. Quickly pulled the rear apart, reset it, 1st trigger pull....same deal. Gave up for the day. Today I inspected closer.....I could push the inside bearing through the diff case and move the outer bearing. Here's the findings.

The ridge that's supposed to support the bearings broke off the inside of the housing and is the piece you see to the left of the bearings. That allowed the pinion to walk wherever it wanted and of course chewed it up to where I won't reinstall it. I've literally had the worst luck with this kit. This is my 6th Tekno kit and the most recent and never had breakages like this. Plastic shock cartridge nut, 2 shock caps, diff housing, pinion gear with not even 2 full packs thru it. I haven't even been able to beat on it yet. I truly hope they haven't made a change in their manufacturing to keep up with the demand of kits and parts. Been seeing a trend of breakages recently that I haven't seen in the past and seems uncharacteristic from my experience.

yuck. Let's hope you're right that this won't become common.
Tekno, quick-access diffs please!

The shocks I used off the .4 buggy are actually upgraded ET48.3 shocks. The bodies are now the same length as the truggy, plus you get the upgraded internals, and caps. I just tossed the MT410 shocks in the parts bin;) The included springs were way too soft to run tho.

the EB48.4 uses the long Truggy shock bodies?! that is EPIC! I kind of wonder why though, seems like overkill in RC to have that much travel on a tiny buggy wheel, but the more travel you have, the better it can be tuned, so maybe it's a smart move by Tekno...

Yes. even the .3 buggy used TKR6016 & TKR6060 shock bodies as well. They just updated the caps & internals to the cnc'd delrin ones so it really didn't make sense to use any of the .3 shocks vs. the .4 shocks for a couple bucks more. I'm pretty certain the .2 buggy was the last revision that used a smaller shock like the SCT and SL buggy.

yowza i didnt realize that. strange then that the SCT would still use the shorter bodies...

I'm sure that since the SCT410.3 dwarfs the 10th scale short course truck competition in just about every aspect possible there's probably not much reason to upgrade:LOL: It was comical to see the LOSI guy's reactions to my SCT410.3 not having any knowledge of Tekno.

good point, all of the other SCTs still use tiny 1/10th scale 12mm dia shocks... I really want a 2wd SCT but every time I see how small everything is on them I change my mind and hope tekno will release one.

Even tho my MT410 is on the "fix me" side of the bench right now I threw some new wheels/tires on it Sunday morning before realizing my diff case failure. Back to old faithful for maximum chaos:D These have been in the package for a month and a half. About time to let em eat!!

That’s a weird problem with the diff case. Like you said...I really hope Tekno isn’t cheaping out on material quality.

I truly hope it was a fluke man. I've never had a case fail like that in the few years I've been running Tekno now. Especially since it's still practically brand new. I have a rear case that's been hanging on the wall for a couple years. I'll be mounting that one and saving the new stock that I ordered with the pinion gear.

So here's the build list as it sits now I will update as things progress:)

I have to include this in my future order for MT410 upgrades, I used to land upside down very often

Definitely helps, but the tower is still bendable higher up.

I don't think so, I think he means it showed up at the same time.
What's the benefit Pauly? Theyre just noisier and more rotational weight from my experience. Have your worn out a plastic? Must take a lot...
I've never shredded a plastic spur even with a huge motor...

this is Peejoe, I have a new build of the MT410 with the Mamba X and savox servo. very fun and fast. I have a plastic spur that came with the kit and I have it almost worn out from tiny stones getting thrown in there. Once in a while I drive on a clay road and the little rocks are awesome to practice drifting on but occasionally little rocks get thrown up into the body and into the spur gear. even one time I had a ((lock up)) and had to carry it back home to fix the problem.. all that i can say it," When in Doubt...Throttle OUT"!! If I had kept on giving her the power then I would of broken something on my precious!! I am currently awaiting the arrival of a steel spur but I cant help but to wonder if I have a steel spur gear, am I going to Break something else??
