After much consternation and debate, I ended up ordering an ET48 2.0 (after struggling with the ET410, Xray X8Te, EB48), the community in this forum definitely tipped me towards Tekno--thanks, everyone! After pouring through threads, I narrowed some component choices down, but I was hoping for some particular advice on the ESC, Motor decision and whether I should really "future proof" myself for 4s.
My tenative build options are in the table below, but here are a couple of questions:
My tenative build options are in the table below, but here are a couple of questions:
- Which ESC / Motor combo would you go for?
- Use case is healthy, but cut grass, not likely racing (I haven't found any off-road racing in the San Francisco Area). Not doing jumps and bashing, but I don't want to overheat. The grass could be wet when I run, but I won't intentionally be doing anything in the water.
- I've heard Tekin makes a good motor, but not ESC. I also ready HW bearings wear out in motors and that Castles can be a bit long for the chassis.
- Is it worth making the ESC / Motor 6s capable for my application.
- Lighter is better, but if 6s is important LMK.
- Am I overshooting/spending on anything, e.g., servo?
- What do you suggest for wheel/tires.
- Being nimble in the grass is a plus, I would prefer something lighter as I'm not trying to land jumps or use rotational mass to flip.
- Anything critical you would add to "my cart?" for the process.
- I'll grab a couple of the recommended build tools by Tekno and my wife has a soldering iron.
