aaaand another what to buy thread.

Hallo all,
I will buy a MT410 and need some help buying the thing I need to complete it.

Building the kit should be doable, had a Tamiya Manta Ray and a Losi XXX-T a few years ago.

I will by the stuff in Germany so I might not get all the cool servos you recommend.

I already have some parts picked out that should fit. Am not sure if the more expensive variant is really worth it?

ESC & motor
Castle Monster X & 1515-2220KV

  • Waterproof
  • BEC 8V
  • AUX wire to reduce speed when my 7 year old wants to drive over 3rd channel?
  • s the B-Link enough or do also need the USB-Link to activate Bluetooth?
  • $100 / 100€ more then the EzRun combo
Hobbywing Max & 2200KV
  • Waterproof
  • BEC only 7.4V
  • NO AUX wire or profiles reduce speed
Servo
Savöx SB-2290SG

  • can I put it on 8V?
  • strong buy maybe a little slow
  • expensive
Corally CS-5226 HV
  • works with up to 8.4V
  • not as strong as the Savöx but faster and cheaper
Other servo?

Body

I probably won't put shoe goo in it seems a lot of work

Pro-Line 1972 Chevy C-10
  • week spot at the bed where it breaks?
Pro-Line 2014 Chevy Silverado
  • will also break
Ugly russian indestructible body?

Wheels

Good mix on the ground and while in the air would be nice
  • Arrma 3.8" Backflip 4S
  • Pro-Line Badlands (MX28)
  • other wheels?
Additional tuning parts
What is a must to have?
  • Bumper front the big one from Oktay
  • Bumper rear ???
  • Skidplate front & rear from MLine
  • Mudgurds read
  • Chassis brace rear and/or center do I need them (mostly out of stock I think)
  • JS-Parts chassis protection skin probaly not worth it?
  • Shock socks?
  • what else?
Tools
  • I have some EDS tools.
  • Can i build the kit without the tekno pivot ball and shock multi tool
Remote
Not sure probably something that for under $150.

Sorry for probably asking the same questions for the 100th time :)

Everything you listed are good parts

As far as electronics go I think it’s a lot of user preference I started with castle and just stayed with them to keep all my rigs the same

I like to stay with well known companies so if there is a issue you can contact them

The kit does not need many upgrades out of the box they are a tank

Arrma backflip are a great tire

T-bone racing also makes a great bumper

Just get the rig up and running and go from there to suit your needs and driving style

Just a thought, You can get an ESC mounting plate that allows you to mount the ESC at the back of the car next to the motor, freeing up space between the motor and servo. It’s a tight fit trying to get the electronics fitted the way the manual shows.

ESC & motor
I have the castle motor combo.
I had some bad luck and had the first combo doa, but they replaced it and i havent had problems since.

Servo
No input on this one.

Body
On the body, get what you want, youll destroy anything with enough time. haha

Wheels
I also got the Arrma 3.8" Backflip 4S and have been very happy with them.
I drive on concrete a decent amount and they wear pretty well also, they have lasted longer than i expected them to anyway.

Additional tuning parts
Not so much tuning, but parts you will want.
Tools
Can i build the kit without the tekno pivot ball and shock multi tool?
Yes, but it helps a bit. Its a nice to have and is much better to hold the bars with than pliers.

Remote
I went with the DX5C Smart 5-Channel Transmitter / SR315 Rx Combo
I wanted a couple extra channels to use for things and its worked out great.

I can recommend the ugly Russian bodies, and I'm a big fan of the Castle stuff, though I don't know what type of running you're planning on, but I have read a number of owners have got into heat trouble with the 1515, I'm currently running a mamba monster x with a blx 185 can.

I love the 4s backflips, Proline seems to be having a few quality control issues and not glueing their tyres well.

I run a rear brace and center brace, aluminium servo horn is a must, and maybe consider the aluminium shock caps and and matching mounts. So far I'm happy to leave everything else stock.

I'm not a fan of the way the droop screws are done on the mt410, they aren't as good as the 1/8 race stuff, you may want to look until a set of m2c or other droop screws.

Thanks

I've been thinking about it some more. Probably will take the following parts. I know that I don't really need some of the tuning stuff.

ESC & Motor EzRun Max8
  • On of the guys that sell the MT410 in Germany sell it with th Max8 combo.
  • Mamba Monster X would be at least $100 more
Servo Savöx SB-2290SG
Body Pro-Line 2014 Chevy Silverado
Wheels Arrma 3.8" Backflip 4
Tuning
  • TKR5253B Aluminum Servo Horn
  • TKR4175 M5 Pinion Gear (15t, MOD1)
  • TKR4176 M5 Pinion Gear (16t, MOD1)
  • TKR5115 Spur Gear(44T,hardened steel,lightened)
  • TKR1238 Droop Adjustment Screws
  • TKR1115 Multi-Tool
  • Oktay Bumper Tekno MT410 black double brace 4 mm (no lokal t bone reseller )
  • Mudgurds
  • Skidplate front & rear

I hope it is not too crazy to put the equivalent of almost two Traxxas Maxx in a small monster truck.

They’re roughly equivalent in terms of durability, but the MT410 drives circles around the Maxx in terms of performance. You’ll be happy with it.

I ran the Max 8 2200 on 15t this summer and have now switched to the 17t. It never got remotely hot on the 15t for me.

Note that the metal spur gear will be notably louder. So far, I’ve had no visual wear on the composite spur. I think it only becomes an issue with over-powered setups.

Will the hobby wing XR Plus with the 4274 can fit in the tekno mt410

Max8, MMX, rx8Plus… they all fit with 4274 or 4076 cans.

Savox 2274 is also a really strong option for a servo.
