Shock building help

Are there any good alternatives to the green slime or shock snot that I've read about for building these shocks? I don't have a LHS nearby so I'd be looking for something I could get at a hardware store.

I was looking for something I could pickup today. I found some o-ring and seal Lube that they use for rebuilding mountain bike shocks at the local bike shop. I figured I'd give that a try.
