410 2.0 3s Electronic suggestions for racing

I am thinking about getting back into the hobby after many years. My local track allows 3s in the SCT 4x4 class. I am not sure how to pick a good motor, ESC, pinion combo for this. Also any setup tips would be very appreciated as it has been a long time. The track is a small 1/8 scale track made of red clay.

Welcome to Tekno forums.

You are so lucky to be allowed 3S usage. That has got to be the sweet spot for SCT platforms... of course that sweet spot has to include the right motor. For that, I can't really help. Nor do I race anymore.

I used to run a 2650kv motor on 3S with one of my 1/8 buggies and would get the same speeds as when I used a 1900kv motor on 4S.

If you plug in the numbers, you'll get about the same RPMs using a 2800kv motor running on 3S vs. a 4300kv motor running on 2S.

I found 3S to significantly reduce temps and save my batteries big time!

After 19 logged race days with this chassis, I started running into electrical problems where the wiring to the 5mm bullets on the battery posts would become un-soldered during a race. The excess heat would cause the in-line connects to melt the plastic of the battery case making it unsafe to continue using the same battery:

The cost to replace the battery was going to be around $160+ after shipping so I decided to go a different route and have installed the following electronics for just under $120 shipped total...
