The shock shaft has become detached from the piston, which I assume is still inside the shock body, but damaged.

Ended up losing the spring too which is annoying.

The shocks have the upgraded delrin pistons and I even reduced the drop by one turn on each suspension arm to try and alleviate this issue.

Any advice, I'm thinking of fitting some fuel tubing to the shock shaft, internally to cushion the down travel.

Looks like the screw that holds the piston on came loose. Did you use loctite when assembling it?

Any time threadlocker is used, especially on new kit/hardware, I'll clean threads with motor spray, alcohol, or electronics cleaner. I'll let threadlocker cure a full 24 hours on those piston retaining screws. I maybe OCD with cure times, but I've never had one of those screws come loose.

I did when I built the truck but since fitted delrin pistons and may have forgotten the thread lock.

I’ve gone through each shock and removed, cleaned and re-thread locked each of the piston retaining screws.

@RustyUs is right - this happened to my mt410 2.0. - cap screw holding piston on shaft came out, not enough locktight. Unfortunately the delrin piston was damaged when I took the shock apart and needed replacing...

UPDATE: Despite going through all 4 shocks and cleaning, then thread-locking the piston retaining screws, one of the front shock pistons came loose again. This was after the thread lock had several days to set before I ran the truck.

This is a really frustrating issue as each time it happens it damages the piston and I have to fully remove the shock shaft to clean and re-threadlock the screw.
