SCT 410.3 Battery keeper and thumb screws?

Hi there! I have been running my new SCT 410.3. Love it, but I would like options..... on a different battery keeper than the velcro straps. Can't stand those velcro straps. Also, I would like suggestions on thumb screws instead of body clips? This truck loves to eat body clips, its crazy. Do you guys have any suggestions on these items?

I never had an issue with body clips and I have crashed mine HARD!(I used a jconcepts body) Check out proline racing for thumb screws. I also never had an issue with the velcro straps and prefer them. They hold the battery in there nice and tight.

ProLine used to make thumb screw body mounts for the SCT410 but they discontinued them, I felt they were a must as I lost body clips all the time and never lost a thumb screw with the PL mounts.

An alternative is to use clip retainers:

I did not care for velcro straps either and that was a major reason why I left TEKNO in favor of HB Racing kits which use a carbon battery strap with thumb screws to secure the battery. I don't experience premature internal wiring issues with my batteries anymore since I ditched the velcro straps.

If SCT were to make a comeback in my area, I would probably do a conversion with an old E819RS in similar fashion to what this guy did here:

Thank you for the input!! I have thought about cutting off the top of the stock body mount, then drilling and epoxying the studs from this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2035459925...ar=503944205849&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Might work… just don’t know for how long….

I have done this with limited success, eventually the threaded set screws will strip out of the drilled body posts because there is a void in the backing of the plastic which is hollow in the center... the ProLine mounts were solid plastic and the threads didn't strip. Shoe Goo will help secure the set screws into the drilled body posts to extend the time before they fail.

Now you have my wheels turning… I think a trip to the hardware store is in order. Right sized studs for the thumb screws and nuts on both sides of the mount?

No, I was referencing how thin the barbs are and the need to back the set screw with a nylock nut.

ProLine had the best mounts ever designed, really a shame that TEKNO couldn't make this a standard feature!

I like proline's nuts (hehe) but am too lazy to set them up. Right now I have body posts off some random buggy, a bit thicker than Teknos which are really flimsy. All i gotta do is drill them out for the screws.

You can get almost any set by proline and whittle down the posts until they fit.

For the straps, just get one long reinforced strap lengthwise and that's it. 1/3 the hassle of the stock setup, simple and holds the battery well.
