I’ve been really wanting to get an SCT after getting my God son’s Senton and helping him sort it out for track use. His Senton was a lot of fun to drive on our local track once we changed a few things (Lake Park RC Track in Lutz, Florida).

So, when the 410.3(s) went on sale, I kept looking at it for a few weeks, then finally relented and ordered one from A-Main.

The build was nice. Parts were good quality with great fit & finish. My last build was the 2021 X-ray XB8E, and this SCT build was comparable in regards to ease.

I’m only just now completing the paint job on the body. SCT bodies require a lot more liquid mask and paint compared to 1/8th scale buggies - they’re huge!

I haven’t run it yet as I’m not quite finished with the body.

I also wound up with the HW Xerun SCT 6100KV motor (& ESC combo), as it was all that was in stock locally. I’m guessing that I’ll have to abandon the 6100 for a ~4000ish KV version, but I’ll give it a few runs with some conservative ESC settings in an effort to keep the temps under control…

That looks really good. I see you cut out some spots for the air to flow through. Is there any issues with racing with cutouts in the body?

What body is that? I am going to start my SCT build soon and want to make sure I get a body that fits appropriately.

Thanks

It is the JConcepts Hi-Flo SCT body. Finally had a good opportunity to run this rig at the track today, and it was perfect!

I think I was running almost as fast (lap times) as my 1/8th scale eBuggy (X-Ray XB8E). Ran through 2 packs. Handled great!

I will say that it took a lot of time to paint and prepare it for use, especially if you plan on removing all the 'hi-flow' cut-outs designed into the body for removing the 'parachuting' effect of SCT bodies when coming down from jumps. I've only removed the rear cut-outs in the slanted 'fast back' part of the body and the two small slots at the top rear of the cab. I've not removed the windows or any cutouts in the front of the body. After about two packs through it - It seems to be flying very well. My local track is a 1/8th scale track that has a bunch of smaller jumps and table-tops, plus one medium-length double (10'~12') jump in its current configuration. The body also seems to help my truck land on its wheels after a rollover (or 5). I only had to flip it once after more than a few mishaps.

My 410.3 setup: I'm using the optional Tekno 'air dam' Lexan pieces (Part# TKR5504) that mount on top of the nerf bars in conjunction with this body. I'm using the first holes from the top in the front body posts, and the second holes from the top in the rear body mount posts, with the more aggressive slant.

You can use the first holes from the top body mounting posts (Tekno SCT410.3), but I started noticing a decent amount of rear tire rub when the rear shocks were fully compressed. I was worried about the tire rub torching my fresh paint job, so I raised the rear mounts by one hole on the post(s).

In general, I'm very happy with it and how my paint job turned out.

If you're new to painting SCT bodies like I was, and you like putting down multiple coats of paint as I do. Be prepared to need more paint and liquid mask than usual. I've painted a handful of buggy bodies in the past, and in hindsight, they probably need 1/3 less material(s) than the SCT bodies. I'm seriously considering paying someone to paint & cut the next body that I'm just about to order... Doing the hi-flow cutouts and cutting/mounting the four winglets took a lot of time.

Losi has a body very similar, maybe j concepts makes it even. It has everything pre cut with a laser so the edges are stronger because of the melting. TLR8061 one my favorite short course bodies
