Hi Guys,

I haveEB48.2 from second hand, I'm going to replace all broken parts and I'm quite confused with diff. On the part TKR5152 was shim, I would say 7x5x0.1

It is missing in manual. Is the shim important to add there? I thought that shim is there for set proper gap between teeths, but it's purpose of part TKR1222 (shim 13x16x0.1)
I watched video
unfortunately there isn't visible whether shim should be there.

On the other hand, I would say that here should be shim

Again the shim is missing in manual for EB48.2 but it's there in manual for EB48.3

So second question, should I add TKR1226 to EB48.2 as it's mentioned in manual for EB48.3?

Thank you very much for answers.

Yes, add the shim (TKR1226) as referenced in the last pic for EB48.3, that was a later update that was needed to protect the bearing, no need to add shims inside the diff case or it may bind, but very important to apply a light coat of grease on those crown/pinion gears!

Cool, thank you very much for help

I don't want create new thread so I have changed name of thread. I have second problem with centre diff

I had to add two 0.1 shims to centre diff holder because there was a play. I has still small play but smaller than 0.1mm because third shim is too much.

Is it ok?

Next question: I bought new differential outdrives and they are too big so it's impossible to apply shim over them

So if I want to add/remove shim I have to disassemble whole diff, it's a pain.

Thank you very much for help.

I have never had to use any shims in any of my TEKNO cars, yes there is very small traces of slop but it's not enough to make any long term wear issues anywhere for me. On my PR Racing cars I have had to use shims because of how their design works, but to make things easier on those cars, I place the shims on the diff case, then slide the bearing in place when rebuilding the diffs. This protects the shims from warping when installing the diffs in the gear boxes ;)

interesting, there is big play on my tekno, I will create video. It's a quite old car and I noticed that bearing is not hold in diff mount properly, the hole seems to be bigger than should be originally. I would say that bearing rotated in mount and create bigger hole.

I just ordered new one, I wanted to ask because it's not cheap part.

Finally it is done. 90% of plastic parts and many metal parts are replaced. At cost approx 350euros. I'm so with the car.

350 EU seems pricey to me, is that with the 50% Lifetime Warranty discount? Did you ship the bad parts to Greece?

It's also very important to replace the pins at the first hint of any flat spots starting to form, regular maintenance will allow the out drives to last indefinitely:

I didn't know I can use warranty service, I have never heard about it. I bought all parts in eshops for full price :(.

Thank you for advice, I had to replace all shafts because there were not straight. It is quite old car and may parts were broken, some parts were almost OK, I have strong OCD, I had to replace it. I tried car near home, chassis has "scar now". Black chassis was not good choice :D.

It's my first, I had arrma typhon, I thought it's professional car, but when I saw tekno, I woke up. It's boring video, I was so scared not to damage it.
