Hello my name is Sean, just joined the tekno forum! Let's get right to it. Going to be covering a Father / Son build I did with my dad.
Little intro, I myself got into RC about 3 months ago. Starting with a Slash Ultimate 4x4, getting my girlfriend a Slash VXL 2wd. Then getting a Traxxas Maxx.
I'm having a blast! Got hit with the "bug" I'm begging my dad to get back into RC as he had a Losi xxt stadium truck when I was a little kid! He said, "well if I'm getting back into this hobby, I'm not getting a Slash, I'm going all out"! So he goes with the latest and greatest ET48 2.0! Naturally I had to join him and be apart of this. So I myself bought a ET48 2.0 the same day. Here's our builds (Identical)
Quick rundown of build
-Tekno ET48 2.0 (TKR9600)
- Hobbywing Xerun XR8 Plus Brushless ESC/G3 Motor Combo (2250kV) (HWA38020431)
-Tekno RC "M5" Hardened Steel Mod1 Pinion Gear w/5mm Bore (15T) (TKR4175)
-ProTek RC 170TBL "Black Label" High Torque Brushless Servo (PTK-170TBL)
-ProTek RC 30x30x10mm Aluminum High Speed HV Cooling Fan (PTK-2111)
-Exotek 1/8 V2 E-Buggy Clamp On Fan Mount (EXO1914BLK)
-Tekno RC Aluminum Single Sided Clamping Servo Horn (25T) (TKR5253B)
-Futaba 3PV 3-Channel 2.4GHz FHSS/S-FHSS Radio System w/R203GF Receiver (FUT01004353-3)
-Spektrum 5000mAh 4S 100C Smart (SPMX50004S100H5)
Mail Let the shenanigans begin
Parts! Lots of parts
Front and Rear shock towers.
Adding parts to chassis.
It's looking like a RC car now
We got them on wheels!!
Went straight outside to test them.
Painting got rushed, we were getting excited by this point lol
Track day
The end result, It's go time
After alot of time spent building, with lots of frustration. The build wasn't as easy as we thought (Noobs). Some parts were just plain hard but overall things went smooth and we couldn't be happier with the end result! They came out great and run even better !
Unfortunately for my dad , reasons unknown his original esc went out at the track. With alot of going back and forth with hobbywing he decided to try the Holy grail setup and went with the tried and true Tekin setup!! RX8 Gen 3 2250kV
It does look good. Hopefully this setup works out better for him and we'll be getting back to the track.
Hope you guys enjoyed the builds. If you have any questions please message me. Let me know what you guys think. Enjoy
