What parts do you recommend buying extras of before racing. In case they break or fail and don't have a shop close by etc.

A person certainly can go overboard with spare parts if going to a track with no hobby shop support. Some will go as far as having another kit on hand to rob from. I don't race anymore, but beside the usual bearings and spurs, I'd have spares for anything that involves taking on barriers, pipes and spikes... servo, outer driveline components, hinge pins (and inserts if applicable in the 2.0's case), shock shafts, shock mounting hardware, and steering hardware/linkage.

But, before anything, grab some aluminum shock caps. I hate to say it, but that's the only thing that's a "must have" part to get right away for durability concerns.

I've tumbled, violently cartwheeled, and lawn darted the 2.0 countless times from 4' heights... super happy with the SCT's ability to take on Mother Earth.

Thank you for the in depth reply. It covers alot. I'm just getting into the sport myself

I wouldn't go crazy on spares. Inner hinge pins, inner wheel bearings, maybe a set of front arms.

When I got my first couple of kits I bought spares for everything that looked like it would break or wear over time, aaaaand I still have almost all if it collecting dust in my storage spot.

Don't forget to save any worn/broken parts for warranty. I don't think you'll need it for a while. Heck, it's been five years, and I've yet to use the warranty. I'm not one of them extreme "bashers". I mainly run my RCs on rough backyard track that launches my rides 2'~5' in the air. My worn/broken Tekno parts bin mainly consists of spur gears and shock bushings that I can almost count by using my fingers.

Edit: composite shock caps don't count 😆

My 410 2.0 has also met the ground in many unfortunate orientations, and no broken parts yet other than one shock cap. Center driveshaft has gotten quite warn, but i domt think that warrants having a spare on hand necessarily.

Same as others have mentioned. Don’t go overboard. I’ve done the same. And I’ve only ever bent a rear outer hinge pin, and cracked a rear carrier and that happened because I collided with another truck. lol
