Is anyone using a speedometer app on their phone for speed runs? If so, can you recommend one. There are a few dozen free and paid apps to choose from when searching the App Store. Thanks for any input.

i think most of us just use a gps. an old android smart phone that you don't care much about is great for it. i have an old garmin GPS that i use and it's flew out of the rig in a crash a few times and the screen is all screwed up now but i can still barely read it for speed ha ha... they also make really small handy ones for uses like this that just display speed.
from what ive heard the phone apps aren't the best because you have to stand a perfect distance away and know how wide the viewing angle is for it to be accurate.
