I currently have a SCT410.3. The thing is amazing. Durable, strong, fast, good control, although nose diving was an issue. My question is: Should I progress to the SCT410 2.0. I'm not sure if I should based on the reading, research, and comparisons I've been making. Then again, I don't have a SCT 2.0 in my hands to make a better educated decision. My concern is that the 2.0 just seems...smaller in terms of gears, shocks...and maybe durability wise? Also, I like how the 410.3 had a narrow chassis body, really allowed it to shoot like a dart across jumps. The 410 2.0 seems broader for it's chassis/bottom so I feel like parachuting would be a bigger issue with this sct compared to it's predecessor? I'm also not a fan of the locked motor mount compared to the sliding motor mount for the 410.3.

On the other hand, I do like the design of the chassis more on the 2.0. More room, symmetrical, and overall seems more aggressive if not in driving, at least in style.

I guess, what I'm trying to ask is: Is the 410 2.0 worth the purchase if I already have an sct 410.3 (I have pretty much most Tekno Upgrades on it)? Does it handle better? Is it just as durable as it's older brother? Anyone willing to give me a break down, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't know about the gears being smaller as you can virtually swap the diffs/diff internals between the two platforms... minus the spur gears. It's true that the 2.0 has cast metal diff ring/pinion gears, but it's hasn't been an issue, for me, so far. I just make sure the set screw is tight on the diff pinion gear.

The use of 13mm shocks on the new SCT seemed like a step backwards a first. Using springs from the larger platforms reminded me of the old days of SCT when the Ryan/Ryan and crew were using 12mm "big boar" shock springs on smaller 10mm boar shocks. The 2.0 shocks are up to the task of controlling the heavyweight SCT just fine. I only wish I had kept the composite shock caps on longer as I had thought one popped off a thread or two. Here, the rear caps had loosened a bit and oozed out some oil... I panicked.

Having the center diff covered/protected, and the easy access front/rear diffs... I was sold. I didn't care about anything else. It was a no-brainer... I had to get the SCT410 2.0. When the one piece motor mount was introduced on the SCT410SL (I love that ride as well (y) 🤷‍♂️) I had doubts at first. I tried a handful of different brand of pinion gears and they all meshed very good if not great. Yeah, it's a cost savings thing, but needed for the cover to be introduced. Who is constantly changing pinion gears anyway? The one piece motor mount is a non issue... "Set it, and forget it" (Ron Popeil).

From plastic side guard to plastic side guard, there is approximately a 15mm difference between the two platforms. Is it good, or bad?

Was there ever a definitive SCT410.3 fix? LOL. Depending on who you talk to, the so-called nosediving issue is still around. Even SCT410SL users will chime in once in awhile on the www with their awkward nose down flying posts. I would say it's mainly driving technique & face/lip of jumps that pose the biggest problem, when at speed, for any RC platform. The body of an SCT just adds to things.

Thanks Rusty. Good break down. Fair point on the set it and forget it motor mount, although to be fair there are 3d prints for motor mount/center diff cover for the sct410.3. At the end of the day, I think I'll wait a little bit longer maybe when the 2.1 comes out.

I printed a cover (from thingiverse?) for the SCT410.3's center diff, and there's a lot of little gaps for stuff to get into. It would need some work to minimize the gaps.

I think that would be worse, in my case, than just leaving it open as I got tons of crap (pebbles) that jump onboard my rides. If you got a stl file of the SCT410.3's guard, I like to take a look at it.
