My two point O is showing signs of being needy. Originally, I was only going to change some hardware.

After doing post run inspection, I found a loose screw holding a camber link to the spindle carrier. Took care of that and found the kingpin should screws needing attention. Whilst there... took care of spindle carriers hinge pins as they too had a tic of play in there.

The weather being too cold; track too moist; seeing all the dirt, and being in a "while I was at it" mood... I felt compelled to start tearin' 'er apart.

I’m going through my 2.1/2.2 buggy, getting ready for the outdoor season. Already went through the truggy.

This looks so much better than what I found in a gearbox on one of my other rides. After six years of abuse, I'm calling the molding/fitment of the two gearbox halves most excellent. 👍 🙌🙌

I can relate. All I was going to do is replace one gearbox bearing on my Notorious. One bearing. It ended with both gearboxes and all three diff cases being replaced. That was just the start. I ended up rebuilding the entire truck from scratch. Think, it all started with just one bearing.

As long as I don't drive my Teknos into the ground they're always in at least reasonable shape. Got to love Tekno.

I'm glad I decided to tear down the whole buggy, 'cause bearing(s) are in need of attention. If I had to guess, 15x21x4mm bearings are the most vulnerable when it comes to 1/8th scale RCs. A person should ALWAYS have a supply on hand.

A bit "crunchy" this one is. I'll replace it now and work on cleaning/relubing questionable bearings at a later time once I get a group together.

As my barber would say, "...back in groove."

Rear Shocks

There is only so much an o-ring can do when I get behind the wheel. The price I pay for having fun in dust storms.

That's more like it. 🥳

Rear Gearbox

Sweet! This is what I always love to see... no dirt inside. I must have skipped a maintenance cycle or something, 'cause I thought I stopped using white lithium grease over a year ago. Weird.

Diff Pinion Gear/Coupler

Huh? What the...?! 🤪 I don't know how long I've been running the buggy like this, but sheesh...
I'm so surprised the gearbox didn't melt. That happened to me with my RC8.2e years ago... $$$ to replace everything.

I noticed when I was building my EB48 2.2, Tekno revamped this area of the gearboxes with a larger bearing. Maybe next year the EB48 2.0 will be getting some new gearboxes during the overhaul.

Orange threadlocker on the uni driveshaft's set screw.

Yep, I can see new arms needed for next year. Pebbles being the culprit would be my guess as to the wear at the outer hinge pin area. I added a washer, before the locknut, at each end of the hinge pin.

Center Diff/Motor/Tires

After takin' the motor off to lube the bearings, I may as well change the center diff fluid. And since I'm opening up the diff, I always inspect/clean/relube/or replace the bearings. Maximum waterproof grease is my lube of choice for bearings.

99% Done

That's pretty much it. I'm waiting on some pivot balls and rod ends for the rear camber links. Note to self... keep a supply of those on hand from now on Rusty. 🤪

Pivot Balls

When I could pop the pivot balls in and out of the rod ends with my fingers, I knew it was time to change 'em...

The stock aluminum pivot balls seem to be hard anodized making them the some of the smoothest I've ever encountered, but I decided to go the steel pivot balls this time around. I guess Tekno discontinued them at one point, but have brought them back which Tekno said are "less prone to crush and loosen during a severe crash or a long main." I just wanted to see how long the steel ones last.
