Hi Guys,

I sold all my Traxxas stuff, bought, and built this from info off of this forum.

I have all of the M2C chassis brace stuff on it. M2C diffs.
Sumo chassis protector and a chassis sticker protector.
Savox Servo
Hobbywing Max8 2200kv system w/17t pinion
EB48.4 ackerman
T-bone rear gaurds

I mainly run this thing on 4s with friends and we race, but their track is far away and its hard to get out there. At home I bash with it.

I want to maybe upgrade motor/battery to make it faster, do wheelies, MT tires, and then have it to where I can swap these tires back on and stick a 4s battery back in and still race my friends.

I have been looking at the new M2C rear chassis stiffener with their ESC relocation plate. I want to possibly buy a Hobbystar 4092 or Leopard 4092 (both 1730kv) and relocate the Max8 to the rear. And change gearing.

Hopefully that will still let me race friends, but also have MT tires on it for bashing on 5s or 6s.

Please share your help, opinions, gearing options.....and so on.

I used velcro to try and stiffen up the body mounting:

...I sold all my Traxxas stuff...

These words here give me more comfort than you can possibly imagine... more info here on why:

Anyway, welcome to the Tekno family, lots of great resources around here, and best of luck with your venture into racing!

Some info here might be worth reviewing to help you better understand your setup and what changes to make to suit your needs:

Thanks for the reply. I already have the car set up pretty nicely. I'm not looking to race competitively. Just with friends on their backyard track. As the car sits, if I was a more consistent driver, I already wipe the floor with them.

Welcome! If you are planning to run any large can motors I, as well as others probably, suggest getting the max6 esc. The m2c esc mount looks and probably is super nice however it may get in the way of the body. I’m not entirely sure on that yet. You can also hit up Mike Meyer at MMM-Germany Custom RC parts and he makes an awesome esc mount. You can see it in one of my recent posts in my ET48 build thread. Excellent craftsmanship!

I don't really want to buy a new ESC for now. I will try running this new long can I just bought with the Max8.

Hobbystar 4092 1730kv

I also bough and installed the new M2C rear chassis brace with ESC relocation plate. You can see here it is mounted on top. I can also mount it in the brake servo spot. The one bummer is I will have to extend the motor wires for the ESC now.

Not sure what pinion to buy? I currently have a 17 tooth. I was thinking maybe a 20 or 21 tooth? The goal is similar speeds on 4s with the truggy tires and on 6s with monster truck tires it'll be even faster.

Also I am thinking about buying the Dboots backflips. Can those handle 6s speeds? Do they balloon a lot? They are really tall. I have the +2mm Tekno hubs already. Do I need to run even bigger hub spacers to fit those?

It’ll be interesting to see if the max8 can push the motor. The backflips are great. I have them on my build as well as others. However to combat the ballooning I’ve ground out a center channel on the tires and ran Kevlar braided fishing line. You’ll have to play around with the pinions. On 4s you might be able to in a higher pinion as you mentioned. On 6s you should consider the 15 to 17 tooth range. Let us know how the max8 works out! I like the m2c brace!

I went with the Super Swampers. They were a few mm shorter than the backflips and didn't need to be offset like the Dboots Backflips.

What knot do you guys use for tying the fishing line on the tires? I bought 50lb test line (not sure if that was enough) and a square knot doesn't hold. I was just going to super glue the knot and take it out for a spin.

Messing with the placement of the ESC. This spot it does "fit," but not well under the stock body.

If I put the ESC all the way on the M2C bracket then it is too wide for stock. Also the longer motor wires get in the way.

19 tooth pinion and my stock tires it rips around just fine. I don't want to ruin them for racing so I did not put the 6s battery in.

I replaced my max6 with the MMX. I couldn’t get it to fit anywhere. I though about putting the esc where you did on the right side. What did you use for the esc place to mount it to?

M2C has this bracket https://www.m2cracing.com/product.sc?productId=925&categoryId=116

It came with the new rear brace kit. Here: https://www.m2cracing.com/product.sc?productId=916&categoryId=116

Basically the stock body keeps you from anything, but having everything in the stock location. I like since it fits so tight to the chassis it tends to keep things cleaner from dirt. Modifying on the other hand is harder.

Hopefully MMM will have time to make the bracket I have requested. Then I would do a Max6 with this 4092 and install all my original electronics in a new EB48.
