Hey all,

I recently bought a servo upgrade for my old EB48SL in the form of a Futaba HPS-CB500. I went to install it today and noticed that it is just a tiny bit too wide for the cage in the side pod. Come to find out, this servo has a 21mm wide body, and the old Hitec HS-5585MH I had in there before is just shy of 20mm.

So I'm curious, is there an updated sidepod part # that can accommodate 21mm wide servo's, or is my only option to use this one to file down the interior of the cage? Would be a shame to have to return it, the specs are otherwise perfect.

There's no updated part and no aftermarket part that I'm aware of. You could definitely file down the sides of the mudguard and aluminum top part, you're only removing .5mm per side so you're not weakening the part enough to cause issues.

Thanks for the response! I didn't see anything online, so that was my guess. I ended up cutting the rearward side of the cage, opposite the side that supports the metal brace, enough to let the servo fit.

The aluminum piece fits just fine, thankfully, since its only 3 sided.

If this ends up making things too weak, I figured a new side pod is pretty cheap and easy to replace.
