I recently won a Cayote Crest 8 ESC from rctalk.com. Has anyone tried one of these out? It seems quite similar to Hobbywing, but has more programming features that I don't know how to use😂. From mounting it my EB48SL it seems like pretty solid quality.

Yeah man, we’re all waiting on you to give us the review. No rush

Is that like and extra tall servo? That shot of the servo has me looking for specs just to satisfy my curiosity.
It's a MKS HBL550 servo. I have a few of these and they never disappoint.

Specifications:

  • Torque:
    • @6.0V: 402 oz-in
    • @7.4V: 499 oz-in
    • @8.4V: 527 oz-in
  • Speed:
    • @6.0V: 0.117 s
    • @7.4V: 0.094 s
    • @8.4V: 0.085 s
  • Weight: 79.5 g
  • Dimension: 40x20x38.5mm
  • Working Voltage: 3.5 ~ 8.4 V (2S LiPo unregulated)

I have several also. Really happy with them.
Pretty steep servo link you’ve got there.

I got the EB48SL to the track today running the Cayote Crest 8 paired with HW4300kv motor on 2s. All I can say is that it does the job and didn't catch fire. There are a lot of programming options that I won't be using. I honestly see no reason to switch to Cayote if you are already running quality electronics.

I have no doubt the servo is strong enough, it just seems the servo link is at a weird angle.
