48 2.0 Smallest Pinion Gear Fitment

Well, in the front of the ET48 2.0 manual its states that a 15T~25T pinion gear is needed.

In the assembly part of the manual, it suggests a 14T pinion gear to be used in certain cases.

Will a 14T pinion gear fit? Is it the smallest pinion gear that will fit?

After looking at my EB48 2.0 manual, I see the same motor mount is used on the ET48 2.0. That being said, I know a 12T pinion gear can be used with a 42mm motor just fine.

To use the smaller pinions on a 42mm diameter motor, you'll have to remove the center chassis brace. I can't remember if the 14 fits with the brace still installed, but I'm pretty sure it won't. I think 15 is the smallest you can fit while keeping the center brace installed. This is while using the 44 spur.
