Modellbau-Metz in Germany very kindly sent me this photo and a description of what it would take to get the Max8 G2S to fit:

Hi,

you can use the MAX8 G2.

There are only some small modifications needful.

You need to cut a small peace from the ESC-Board for the motor.

Second you need to modify the sideguard a bit for the sensorcable.

Attached a picture.

But in my meaning you need no sonsor for a Monstertruck.

I'm not sure what you'd do with that sensor cable once it's hanging out the side of the truck though. It's nice to see that the long 4278 motor will fit.

Oh, thank you! I hope you don't mind me sharing it here. I know there are a lot of people that want to use the Max8 G2(S).

I can't tell from the picture, but did you cut into the sideguard for the motor cables too? I assume not.
 
Very thankful and stoked for this release since now there is the option to actually buy, build and run this platform again( esp for my friends :D ). Thanks and GJ to the Tekno team.

Had my OG MT410 since 2021 and only broken one rod end, which was my fault for landing bad after a poorly executed frontlip down a grass embankment.

I truly believe this is the best bashing platform, at least if you drive with control which is fairly easy since it is so nimble and drives like a dream :)

Sounds risky. I do wonder if we'll see Hobbywing alter the design in the G3 model.

Yea i just found some pictures of the G2s internals and it's not happening. I thing the G2s is a silly design, and if they do change it, i doubt it will be because of Tekno.

Of course not, but it does seem like a daft design choice compared to other models and brands.

I'm starting to think I might give up on my dream of waterproof and sensored. The Castle Monster X is way too expensive when compared with the Max8. I might just get the Hobbywing QuicRun 8BL150 G2 ESC + QuicRun 4274 G2 2000KV. My concern is that the ESC is waterproof, but the motor isn't.

That's exactly the combo i was thinking of getting! DORC's review seemed to suggest it drive similar to sensored and the can is a true 42mm rather than 40mm + fins.

Has this been posted here yet?

Yeah I've just watched Do RC's video! I can't believe how much abuse he gave it in 100F weather, and it didn't overheat.

On my MT410 build I had a similar issue with the sensor wire hanging over the tray. I used a body reamer and made a hole the size of the wire in the side of the tray and then reamed the right side of the hole at an angle. I then used a thin razor blade to cut from the top of the tray towards the center of the hole. I then split the cut the slid the sensor wire in. Nice, snug and doesn't over hang over the chassis. Sorry I don't have a better picture in my phone gallery. If you zoom in, you can kind of see what I'm talking about. I can probably snap a better pic later if needed. This link has a better resolution pic.

I ran a Max8 G2 in my MT410 for a long time. What I didn't like about it was the receiver wires comes out of the ESC at the same height as the center driveshaft. I had this vision of the insulation being burned off and the truck shorting out.

Hello There
I’ve run the sensor cable out the top on a couple of my Tekno’s
Fan guard on esc needs trimming a bit with a bit if kydex to protect the cables.
Works well

The auto-dubbing is really good.

I watched the most important part, and he’s used a foam block and longer screws to raise the ESC in order to avoid cutting into the side guard.
