I was struggling how to get a design going, so i just got some felt-tip pens and started scratching stuff on the body.
Felt tip pen is easy to wipe off so I could retry and retry and retry. I just had to see what it could become.
My colors are Black, Red and White.

Came up with this, where the transparent spots will become white (or light decals and windows).
I got the right masking tape and hope it will hold up. Off course the lining will become symmetric.
What do you think, to ambitious for a first paint job or doable ?

Not sure if you are privy to liquid masking but that would be the way to go to cut a lot of nice lines without any bleeding from one color to another.

Something like https://www.amainhobbies.com/bittydesign-liquid-mask-16oz-bdy-lm16/p260637 this will make you masking jobs insanely easier and will result in a nicer final product.

As I was told by the hobbyshop man, the masking tape he sold me should be adequate.
I have seen the liquid mask and this is the same stuff in a smaller quantity:

Can have it delivered on monday... You gave me something to puzzle about ;-)

Yes you can still get some great results with tape and masking but its far easier to get awesome results with the liquid masking IME.

Do it both ways and see for yourself.

Eager to see it painted!

@TBuggy, I did some testing with my tape on a piece of lexan.
It still left some glue/stickyness after removing.
Gettting some liquid mask stuff in next week, seems the "first time right" way to go.
I don't want great, I want awesome ;-)

Next step is cutting out the design from the liquid mask ;-)

The vallejo liquid mask is a NOGO.
I tried 3 times, emptying the bottle, with different brushes.
It Curled up when cutting every time using fresh hobby blades.
But as I learned this stuff is more voor small surfaces.

So I went with masking tape and got a mediocre result, with some bleeding spots, still satiefied with it :-)

Unable to cover up all bleeding but it will take a beating soon enough.
Will get some alternative decals in the future.
