+1 for Kyosho Zeal gel. I like the idea of the absorption. I run Tekin ESC's and have not had a failure. I don't bash hardcore though, mostly race- but I do crash a lot!
The 3M tape with the red backing is what I use for general use like Rx
Certainly clean the area with alcohol.

This stuff is what I have purchased to use also. Matter of fact it was this post that made me get it to try it out. This stuff is amazingly tough at holding stuff in place.

Ok so follow up to this. I went to OCRC Raceway today and ran a few laps and found out this stuff does not hold down my esc at all LOL! Back to the drawing board for me. I think I will try the 3m vhb as suggested by cnk.

i use velcro that i buy from menards

I too use velcro on all of my RC's as well.

I wish we had a Menards down here.
