Using an ET48 truggy chassis... the past couple of weeks, I've thoroughly enjoyed seeing people's SCT48 builds (yes, I know one EB48 build is pictured). The tall sidewall tire builds... just so great to see people not give up on the proper short course truck look  ;)... icing on the cake if you will.

Beauties

I have a question regarding this. I do like the smaller size, and stability of the eb 48 2.2. I know the mojave body fits well with the et 48 wheel base and length, but i'm curious about the traxxas maxx slash body. It is smaller compared to the mojave so I wonder if the body of the maxx slash will work on the eb 48. Anyone have a maxx slash body to see if it will fit on a eb 48 or can find this answer out?

I think it would fit, it’s a 1/10 scale truck right? I fit up some 1/10 scale bodies onto my eb48.3, you just need some body mounts

The Maxx Slash is quite a large vehicle. The wheelbase is actually greater than our truggy, and the width is in between our truggy and our buggy.

Thank you for the info.

I've decided since that post to keep my eb 48 2.2 as is. On a separate note, anyone got any body suggestions if using the wide side guards for the eb 48?

Just cruisin' the interwebs for short course trucks and came across another 1/8 truggy based SCT. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Not a Tekno, but look at this thing.

It's got me thinkin' I should just get serious and build one already.

First, YES, you should build one already. You are aware of my SCT48 build thread. If you give me a budget and the purpose of your build (i.e., light bashing, racing, etc.) I can put together a parts list for you. I have also studied the SCT48 platform religiously over the past few months and I have deep knowledge of all the option parts available, both from Tekno, and from aftermarket manufacturers. Here are some examples:

(1) Custom Shock Towers

Here's a set of custom titanium shock towers for the SCT48 made my Tekno Ti. This particular set enables you to choose between multiple shock lengths, i.e., B/D, C/E, or a mix of both, like B in the front and D in the back. Essentially, it's a tuner's dream. Tekno Ti also offers a set designed for the standard C/ E shock lengths that are used on most SCT48 builds.

I wanted to be different and to try out shorter shocks, similar to how EB48 2.x drivers have been experimenting with "short shock" setups paired with a "wide pivot" mod. So, I asked Allen (owner of Tekno Ti) if he'd make me a custom set of SCT48 towers that can run B/D, C/E shock lengths. These towers are not on his website yet, but you can order them by reaching out to Allen directly.

A machinist local to San Diego offers custom SCT48 CNC machined 7075-T6 5mm thick shock towers. He is currently in the process of finishing up a second batch. These will be available soon and I can put you in touch with him. I run these towers on the SCT48 that I built. Similar to the Tekno Ti towers that I requested Allen make for me, the custom 7075-T6 shock towers can also be used with the B/D, C/E, or a mix and match of each.

I bought a second SCT48 that will run the Tekno Ti towers. Both sets of custom towers enable you to run the body mount and bumper systems from the SCT410 2.0.

(2) Body Options

There are several body options with the most popular being the body from the Arrma Mojave 4s and the Juggernaut.

Mojave 4s body - the body used on the 1/8 Arrma Mojave 4s. It comes in both clear and pre-painted (2 colors). To run this body, there is a 3d printed body mount adapter that is used to then run the stock Mojave 4s body mounts and posts.

Juggernaut - Phoenix Performance Bodies designed a custom body specifically for the SCT48. It's lightweight and is purpose-built for racing. The body mounting system from the SCT410 2.0 works just fine for getting the body mounted.

Besides that, there's tire options, wide side guard options, additional body options, etc. In other words, there's quite a bit of thought that goes into a SCT48 build. I have obsessed over every single detail. The members of the Facebook SCT48 group are probably sick of me. Haha.

So, if you decide to pull the trigger, let me know so that I can help you figure out the parts you'll want to pick up, based on your specific goals for the truck.

Plus, Tower Hobbies is running a 25% off sale on all Tekno kits/ parts.
