Delrin/CNC shock cartridge difference

Is there really a difference in smoothness and longevity of the material. Perhaps a racer would benefit more for this $20 upgrade?

My experience is with suspension pills. Delrin inserts are mildly tougher than plastic. The difference isn't night or day but it does make a difference.
