Rear 1mm and 2mm diff shims

Hi everyone
Can someone explain to me why you would and would not use these shims? What effects using them may have?
I run currently indoor carpet on slicks.

They are only to be used with the -2mm rear tower that is an upgrade option to increase droop to get more traction:

I run on a high traction turf track and found it necessary to go the opposite direction and I run the VRP +3mm rear tower which allows me to get a much lower ride height to increase my corner speed, lots of different tuning options depending on what you need out there:

Most guys at my track don't run them and I do but I think I will remove them and try it since I'm just using the stock tower.
