410SL Bead-Locs for Racing?

I'm not an expert in racing but I would imagine the beadlock wheels would be too heavily for a racing application. For racing applications, reducing "unsprung weight" increases overall performance.

Performance effect:
Unsprung weight must be constantly accelerated and decelerated by the springs.

Lowering unsprung weight s highly beneficial because:

-> It allows the suspension to follow the road surface more closely, improving grip and control.

-> It reduces the effort needed to change the vehicle's speed, which improves acceleration and throttle response.

-> It decreases rotational inertia, which makes the wheels easier to turn.

That said, I do run beadlock wheels on my SCT410SL because I absolutely hate glueing tires. But, I do not race this truck.

You should also know that, depending on the tire and electronics/ battery/ gearing choice, the tires may pull out of the beadlock.

I am running a super soft tire, a Castle X, and a 3200kv motor, and a 3s battery. With this setup I've had issues keeping the tires on the bead.

I applied hairspray to the beadlock wheels and the bead of the tires to see if I can make the locking mechanism work better for 3s bashing.

To do this, I sprayed hairspray into a plastic sandwich bag and the used a small paint brush to apply the hairspray to the areas of the tire and wheel that lock together.

That said, if you stick to 2s or harder tire compound you should be fine.

Thanks man! All of that makes a lot of sense. I appreciate the detail. I guess that's the route I'll go if I ever turn my SL into a basher. Nice rig BTW!

Beadlocks are a great idea for fun running, "bashing" if you will, but once you get some good traction in a corner.... pop. I wouldn't even begin to think about using them in a racing scenario. I had no luck with ProLine beadlock wheels. Even on 2S moderate power I was always fixing the beads.

If you want a set of beadlocks for bashing that will never come off, Vitavon is the way to go: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284108989437

I run these on my Traxxas Raptor R 4x4 w/ ProLine Hyrax SCTXL tires (taller than normal short course tires). I run a HW Max8 and 2500kv 1/8 buggy motor w/ a massive 8000mah battery. Clocked it at 50mph and the beadlocks do not come off.

Are you running 4s?

I am running 4s on my Slash with oversized scr tires on the Vitavon beadlocks. I ripped it down the street doing 55 and the tires stayed on the bead no problem. If you have the money, get the Vitavon beadlocks. I also run them on my Losi Baja Rey 2.0.

Those Vitavon pieces look most excellent. 👍
Any idea of the weight for a single wheel?
