Good Day All,
In the past I have taped my tires before mounting them. Do you guys tape your tires to help with ballooning?
Tekno recommends a bunch of tires pre-mounted, but haven't seen any recommendations for just wheels.
I have been looking but since I am new to this truck I am not sure which wheels would work.

Strapping the tires with fishing line on the outside of the is much better than taping. It’s much lighter and it holds up better. Just put a few bands around the tire and add a drop of CA glue to the knots. That will stop the tire from ballooning.

Whether you want ballooning or not is up to you and how you use the truck and what tires you use.

Pre-mounts are really popular from manufacturers. There are a lot more pre-mounted options available, are some are really good.

The choices of unmounted tires and wheels are limited. Any 3.8” wheel with 17mm hex’s should work.

One good choice for an unmounted tire is the dboots backflip LP from an arrma outcast 4s. For wheels you could use the 4s Kraton or 4s Outcast wheel.

If fishing line is used does it require any type of special knot?

Thanks for the reply and information. I never heard of that procedure before, yet it sounds easy and defiantly lighter.
Thanks again.

Hey Quadcell- I'm running Badlands and since i'm just a knuckledragger, locked my center diff with silly putty. I'm not sure what situation you're in but if you're just gung-ho 6s and high KV... I could use some of youre extra cash.
If you're front end is turning to pizza cutters, thicken up the mid and front diff... if you're just a lunatic like me, rock on and always listen to these other guys... the only time my tires balloon is when they're off the ground. that is not acceptable.. tune the diff's

After reading more and from advice from you guys I decided to go with the Proline 3.8" Badlands on the Desperado Wheels, pre mounted and will do the fishing line mod to them and will stick to 4s lipos which I have a bunch from my hex-copters and Slash 4x4.
Thanks guys for your help.
