  1. SCT410
I just got my SCT410.3 kit from FedEx, and my M2C wide truggy chassis and braces arrived a couple of days ago... So here is the starting point of my Desert Buggy build.

I'm using a Castle Creations 1515/2200 Kv motor and Mamba Monster X ESC combo, and a Reefs 777 steering servo.

I also have a set of aluminum gear boxes from AllRacing on Banggood on the way, along with a variety of other parts from here and there...

I'm planning on a Losi Lasernut U4 body - I have a Lasernut that I'm building up, but it's been a shelf queen so far; it breaks every time I drive it...

Anyway - stay tuned for more!

Sounds like you have a solid build plan?

I have the same ESC and motor combo in 2 rigs and love it

I am jealous of that servo let me know how she runs I have the reefs 422HD,444, and 555 and they rock

do you have a U4 course to run this rig on

I am working with a track owner near me that runs both off-road buggy/truggy/SCTs and crawlers, to develop a U4 track. I posted on the Texas Rock Racers FB page, but haven't heard much about it yet. We'll see.

Otherwise, I might set up something moderately permanent in my pasture (I have a small farm in south Oklahoma).

I have two 444's which I agree are great servos. I also have a Holmes SHV500 V3 in one of my Capras, and my more serious crawlers have Savox 2290-SG Black Editions (>900 inch/ounces, pushing 1,000!) and a few triple-7s. I really appreciate my wheels turning when I want them to...

Anyway - I just finished the majority of the kit build. I ended up building it by the book, since I'm still missing most of the 'special' parts I ordered. And if it's anything like several other of my builds, I'll probably end up getting the few parts I'm missing, and make a second one... At this point all I really need is a bearing kit and the suspension arms, and some of the misc brackets. I wouldn't be terribly surprised...

I have a used EB48 2.0 coming from another online purchase, so that would make three Teknos - plus four other, non-Tekno cars - in just over a month. My wife is getting a little miffed at my outlays...

How it currently sits:

Finally figured out that I was posting pictures that were larger than allowed, and fixed that; resized a few pictures and updated the posts.

If you do make a track let me know.

I was thinking of building a track next to my field that is a hybrid track or that’s what I called it. A less groomed version of the local track with areas of large rocks and logs also let the grass grow ( weeds ) in areas. With no large jumps

my kids are young I think whey will like this less technical style of track but still be be fun for all.

Mann that thing is gonna fly over the hoops!! Thats a powerful setup. Kudos to you. How many cells are planning on running? I love the way the lasernut cage fits the db48, if I hadn’t been gathering up parts for the last two years I would have probably gone with it as well.
Keep us posted and enjoy the build .
Btw happy new year to all !!

I run 3 & 4s in my Lasernut (1950Kv stock motor), but I also have both parallel and series connectors, so 6s isn't out of the question...

But I also have 46 & 48 tooth spur gears to go along with the stock 44, and the lower, truggy gears for the axles. The hope is to have both acceleration with the large tires, and decent speed. I'm pretty sure I can achieve that!

I ended up transferring everything to the M2C chassis, and got the ESC and receiver installed. I did a general ESC firmware update/adjustment to my liking and adjusted the servo, etc. Even though I don't have the shocks built, I drove it around the dining room a little bit. Definitely going to be a fun thing!

However, the sensor cable is a bit short... Does anyone know if longer ones are available, or am I going to have to make one?

Oh, man, does this thing like to GO! I put the shocks together and took a shake-down cruise... I already bent the front axle shafts... But WOW! I love it!

Man, that's awesome, thanks. I'll get what I need then.

I've been meaning to put this body on some crawler, probably a Traxxas TRX-6 6x6, but I tried it out on this, thinking about a 1:1 I've enjoyed... And... I think it is going to stay. I'm going to get some brake line and weld up some kind of cage/truggy-esque thing... Maybe...

I mounted the bed, and fastened them both down. It's not convenient or quick to remove for battery changes, but not terrible.

I also received some wide SLW hubs I ordered from ebay, and mounted some Voodoo U4s, which really improved the look.

And it still runs like a scalded monkey!

I still have several durability parts on the way here, so I am not ready to move on to paint and dressing it up, but I am to the point where I can start driving it a little more. Much fun. Highly recommended.

That looks brilliant! Can't wait to see the finished article. Is the wide chassis a must for a DB48 conversion? Or would the std SCT410 chassis work ok? And do you reckon a Tenacity DB Pro cage/body would work?

No, I only got the wide chassis for the extra room it provides for electronics. And because I hadn't seen one before. 8>D

Thanks for your comment! I'm not sure about the DB Pro cage... I've been thinking about getting a bare cage kit just to try out. You know - for the greater good... Not for ME... Nooooo... At least, that's what I would probably tell my wife...

Well, I have been slacking in recording the small amount of progress I have been making on my DB build. I posted some pictures on another thread while making paper templates for the body panels, but I have cut some aluminum lately... And I got some lights on, which I think will look pretty good. We'll see when it warms up a little.

I ended up going with the Losi Rock Rey cage instead of the Lasernut. With this M2C chassis (6825), it just fits a lot better.

I found the Ultra-4 rear light and heavy duty light bar in Canada - onetoomanyrcs.com - and I'm really happy with the products so far.

I used 1/2 inch aluminum angle pieces to hinge the body, and cable clamps where needed to fasten panels to the cage. I'll put some velcro tape on the hood and nose panels to close it down, and also at the bottom of the side panels, like buggy bodies often do. And I'll cut, bend, and drill a couple of brackets to mount the nose lights bar.
