Hey new member here. I've had my mt410 for a few months and after switching over to 6s I noticed I was smoking bodies left and right. I used to be in the business of chassis fab and still have access to a welding shop so I decided to start an exo cage build. Just a warning progresd will be sporadic and possibly slow, Bec life is busy. Here's where I'm at so far.
I have a proline '85 hilux body.
The large tubing is 3/8" dia and .065 wall, the smaller is 1/4" .065. this stuff is rough to bend. I had to innovate the autozone junk bender I bought. So far the pieces are lightly tacked with a tig welder, I'm not sure if I will tig or braze them for the final welding.

Thanks, that's the rear actually. That was my starting point, but I plan on trying to keep it well balanced. I aim to use the factory mounting for the front and rear bumper, I have some clevis pins to make the cage and body easily removable from the truck. This will give the option to run it with or without the cage but still maintain the metal bumpers

Here's a little intro of the truck in the '80 chevy phase. It has been an absolute tank, i am literally amazed by how tough it is. It handles incredibly on the ground and in the air. It's powered by a hobbywing max 8 and 2200kv motor, it has a ti gear shadow hobbies servo, also have a steel center diff case and lightened steel spur that will be going in

Great truck be looking forward to seeing the finished product. Awesome pocs btw.

I ended up leaving the fab shop and becoming very busy, so the time I had to spend with the truck became just driving it. I did finally paint the Toyota body and I love the way it looks! I got my money’s worth out of the bumper so i think to preserve the Toyota body I will have to at least finish the rear bumper, and when the bed is shredded on the Toyota , she will get a cage

Really nice body. Any issues with the two piece design? I was looking at this for mine but went with the single piece ram 1500 to avoid the two piece maybe folding apart.
The only major issue that will effect the longevity is that I had to cut around the shock towers in the bed, that’s because the bed is lower than most of the monster truck style bodies. I am noticing that it already started to crack there (inside the pickup bed) this problem would likely be solved by having a bumper in the back that isn’t all broken. But I can’t think of a way to beat on the truck more than I already do. I did use the supplied screws to attach the two halves along with two nice strips of double sided tape and a few zip tie stitches as well.
