for people on a budget the dynamite beginer set is nice for 20 bucks but the mip tools are awsome and so are the protek true torque tools are also pretty awsome, what are your

agreed, i had some dynamite, good for starter but MIP is much nicer but also much more $, haven't tried tekno, for the price they should be magical but dont see much need over MIPs, haven't tried protek. price is cheaper than MIP and looks like replaceable tips which is nice but with MIP you won't need to replace them...

For drivers for my drill motor, I have been buying MIP's. It is true what they say, MIP are great quality. The hex heads are cut so nice they are almost sharp. The fit in a hex nut is almost too tight - sometimes they don't want to let go. With these, I have zero worries about stripped screw heads.

For hand tools, A few years back, I bought some cheap Turnigy hand drivers. Not the greatest quality, but I really liked the handles - they are 17mm hex instead of round - so no rolling off the pit tables, plus you can chuck them up in a tire wrench to torque off that stubborn locktite... But, they did wear out pretty good.

I recently bought some EDS replacement tips for the Turnigy handles, and I really like this tips. Sharp like MIP, tight fit in a hex head, but not like MIP where the MIP sometimes does not want to let go it fits so tight. They are still kind of new, but so far, they are not showing any wear. My original Turnigy tools were something like $5 for the set of 4, and the EDS replacement bits were about $12. So I am still under $20, and feel I have a great set of hand drivers now.

I love my DeWalt impact driver, MIP Metric Speed Bits & nut drivers, and my ProTek RC shock pliers.

MIP hexes are awesome. Don't waste money on the others. I use Tekno nut drivers. Those a great also. But favorite tool would have to be the Tekno shock tool.

Loved my MIP set, till I stepped on them snapping all but my 2.0 in half... I had them in a small travel bag and set it on the floor as I was unloading everything after a run, next day I went to my L.H.S and picked up a set of the dynamite drivers, they have not let me down yet but I would like too re-purchase the MIP set

Hakko 936 soldering station for me and MIP tools like everyone else. Have some Associated hex wrenches that have worked out great as well.

I think my favorite tool is this Bosch cordless driver and MIP speed tips. For screws going into plastic I put the clutch on level 1 and then finish tightening them with my EDS hand drivers.

I think my favorite tool that I was unsure about how much it would help is the Tekno shock tool. I was on the fence about getting it and then needed like $18 to get to the next coupon discount at Tower Hobbies and decide on this tool. I got it and used it to build my MT410 and use it for my Arrma vehicles too and I love this thing and wish I could go back in time and buy it.

Like above, I like my Tekno shock tool. I had a STRC shock pliers but the ends are sharp and super uncomfortable. Then got the ProTek took and it is nice. I got the Tekno ones for a gift and they are certainly a step up. And they fit the shocks.
Never used the name brand hex tools. When I first got back into RC I used some quality wrenches that I used on my bikes. But eventually got some Dynamite ones. They work well. Then some ProTek wrenches that are nice. Then for another gift, got some Tekno hex's. Both are great. I could never get over the handles on the MIP wrenches. They always reminded me of cheap hardware store screwdrivers. They may be great wrenches but I would like them to change the handles.
I also like my Trakpower soldering station.
Another fun tool is my set up station. Totally useless at my skill level but fun to tinker with.

I want to get the MIP tool set. I'm of the mind that if I'm going to spend money I really only want to spend it once on the specific product instead of wasting money on a cheaper version only to spend money on the real thing later on.

After building my first few helicopters I took my Dads advice to buy quality tools. Bought a set of MIP's and after 11 helicopters, their maintenance and 3 planes they finally wore out. Replaced them in 2012 and over 20 grounds RC's they are still going strong and still pop in screw heads. Worth 10x what you pay for them.

Out of every "Tool" upgrade hands down my cordless 1/4" drill has made building and maintaining RC's a fun thing to do. Rarely do I use hand tools and the only time I do is the last few threads. My CD has a clutch but I still prefer to finish them of myself.

What is the best 4mm arm reamer that people have found? I have an EDS reamer but I used my caliper on it tonight after reaming the arms for about 10 minutes and it is 3.98mm and my hinge pins are 3.97mm.....this explains why I had to ream each of my MT410 arms for about 20 minutes. I was thinking of getting a Limited Edition Hudy reamer from Amain, but don't know what's all out there and what's good for reamers.

To me a handle is not worth the extra $10+. I did all 4 in less than 5min plus i have an extra for doing some of my air gun magazines. Just because it is sold for "RC" doesn't mean it is only for RC. You can use something else for the same purpose.
