I picked up a new to me EB48. It was advertised as a .2, it came in a .3 box and has an original EB48 manual ??

Anyway, can anyone tell by looking, which model it is? Also, if it's a eb48, what .2 or .3 parts will work so I know what spares I can buy?!

Thanks in advance

This is the best I can do until I get off work.

It looks like a .2 with those arms, the round pivot blocks, center diff mount and the outdrives, but it's still hard to say for certain.

Either way, if it were me the first things I would start upgrading as needed would be the .3 hinge pin blocks, arms and pills. You cannot use the .4 arms and blocks unless you got the .4 chassis.

Then maybe the center diff mount simply for ease of access for working on in the future.

You can upgrade the shocks and towers to the bigger .3 versions. The .3 uses in front what the .2 uses in the rear and the .3 rears are bigger.

And lastly if you wanted to update the steering to be the .4 geometry that would make it pretty much as up to date as you can with that chassis.

Maybe if you want to experiment with different shock setups get some caps so you can try them with an emulsion set up rather than a bladder.

From my understanding pretty much anything that breaks on that thing can be upgraded to at least the .3 version.

Awesome, that's exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you!!!

I just made a small edit about the shocks, just in case you didn't see that.

Got it! Thanks again man, I appreciate it. I bought it pretty cheap on rctech. It was listed as a 48.2, came in a 48.3 box with an original 48 manual ?? It needs some TLC like shock cap bushings and a few other small things. Nearest I could tell it's a .2 but being my first Tekno I figured I'd ask the experts! I know these cars are tough but anything you'd suggest carrying for spares?

Some hinge pins, pills maybe some arms. I like to replace the pins in my drive shafts daily regularly. This will help keep the outdrives from wearing out as fast. It's also way cheaper than replacing the entire drive shaft when only the pin is worn out.

Some wheel hub and diff bearing would be a good thing to have as well.

Mostly things just wear out rather than break but occasionally due to bad landings or crashes, things do snap.
