Amazon DeepRacer Autonomous car

While this isn't an RC car we're all used to, this is just too cool not to share. Amazon has just announced the Amazon DeepRacer. The Amazon DeepRacer is an autonomous 1/18th scale car!

The DeepRacer car comes with an Intel Atom processor, 4MP camera, WiFi, multiple USB ports, and integrated accelerometer and gyroscope.

Amazon is also planning on hosting the world’s first global autonomous racing league in 2019, called the DeepRacer League (DRL).

So if you're developer or just enjoying playing around with some code, you want to check out the DeepRacer car.

The DeepRacer autonomous car will run $399, but you can pre-order it now for $249.

I do not understand any of this.

Why race if a computer will do it for you? I understand all the aids in F1 and moto GP but there is human error from the driver and mechanic. Why compete if this thing is going to figure out a better line? I honestly do not understand what this thing does and I read Amazon’s description.
